Frequently Asked Questions
We welcome any questions you may have and we want all your questions to be answered before we start the journey. Please don’t hesitate to schedule a meeting with us so we can better understand your needs and design your surrogacy plan for you
Is there a wait period to matched with a surrogate?
The wait can be 3-8 months, depending on your surrogate preferences and the current demand of surrogate. Loving Journey screens our surrogates with high standards and conducts background checks in the beginning of the screening process. Surrogates will be available only if all requirements are met.
How much does surrogacy cost?
The overall cost is between $126,000 and $185,000. Your surrogate preferences, surrogate experiences and treatment outcomes affect the cost differently. With HIV patients, the surrogate compensation will be higher. All payments are made through your escrow account and you will be able to review all transactions.
How long does the entire surrogacy journey take?
The whole journey takes about 15 - 20 months from when you first contact us to when you welcome your baby home.
Will the surrogate keep the baby?
No, we’ve never had that happen before. You will be protected by a legal contract. Parental Rights will be filed and ready before your baby is born.
Does my insurance cover surrogacy?
Most medical insurance companies don’t cover surrogacy unless you’re also insured with Carrot, Progyny, and WINFertility. Depending on your plan, you may have limited coverage for surrogacy. We encourage our clients to reach out to their Human Resources about their fertility coverage. Your IVF clinic can help verify your fertility coverage.
Can I be a parent if I’m single?
Of course you can. We welcome clients from all backgrounds whether you're single, married, or have other sexual orientation.
After the embryo is transferred, how do I know my surrogate is leading a healthy lifestyle?
Loving Journey provides health guidance in the beginning of the treatment and your case manager will always follow up with your surrogate closely regarding their needs.
Can I work with a surrogate if I have HIV?
Yes, we believe HIV male patients have the right of being parents and we are able to help them because of modern medicine. Sperm washing is done during IVF process which can remove spermatozoa from the HIV-infected semen. Many studies found ZERO transmissions of HIV with sperm washing. We work with infectious disease specialists who will guide your surrogate through the extra steps needed.
