Step 1 : Consultation

To ensure a smooth surrogacy journey, it's crucial to choose an agency that understands your needs. Begin by completing a form to describe your situation and preferences. A dedicated case manager will be assigned as your main point of contact. Sign a service agreement, review surrogate profiles, arrange video meetings, and proceed to medical screening with a selected candidate.

Step 2 : Surrogate Screening

To assess the suitability of your chosen surrogate for surrogacy, your fertility doctor will conduct a comprehensive review of their medical history and schedule a medical screening. This screening includes a thorough evaluation of their uterus, infectious disease lab tests, immunity checks, and drug screening. Additionally, a fertility psychologist will perform a mental health evaluation. Once all medical screenings and evaluations are complete, your fertility doctor will issue a medical clearance if the results are satisfactory. At this stage, your lawyer will assist you in drafting the required legal documents to proceed.

Step 3 : Medical Treatment

With the Gestational Carrier Agreement signed by all parties involved, the surrogate can proceed with their medical treatment at the IVF clinic. The process kicks off with a baseline ultrasound appointment, which helps determine the timing for thickening the endometrial lining through a combination of oral medications and injections. Once the lining achieves the desired thickness, the surrogate will be scheduled for the embryo transfer at the IVF clinic. Following the transfer, the fertility doctor usually advises the surrogate to rest for 2-3 days, during which it is crucial for them to make necessary preparations to optimize their recovery.

Step 4 : Pregnancy

Around 10-15 days after the embryo transfer, a crucial hCG beta lab test is conducted to confirm pregnancy. Upon receiving confirmation from your fertility doctor, they will continue monitoring your surrogate's progress for up to 10 weeks, ensuring the healthy development of your baby. As the delivery date draws near, your lawyer will initiate the process of securing your Parental Rights at the local courthouse. This important legal step enables you to bring your child directly home from the hospital, welcoming them into your loving arms.

Step 4 : Post Pregnancy

Surrogates often develop a bond with the child as the pregnancy progresses, and they may express a desire to receive updates after the delivery. Agencies encourage couples to maintain contact with their surrogates to show appreciation for their invaluable contribution. Sharing pictures of the growing baby can also aid the surrogate in her recovery process. Additionally, in some cases, the surrogate may be able to provide breast milk to ensure your child receives a natural source of nutrition.
